When we started this year, I recall sharing with you that “opportunities are not bread to be tossed to dog for fun”. I want you to know that that idea became a guidepost for me; looking back, I’m filled with gratitude for the journey we shared—which is why I’m taking this moment to appreciate you.
We started this year exploring lessons, introspecting deeply while growing together—one letter at a time, one thought at a time. Among my favorite moments were those back-and-forth email conversations we had about some of the publication that struck your chord with you. I can’t be more grateful for the opportunity to serve you the way I did this year. I have no doubt that in record time, the conversation we had as a result of this publication will set many dancing to the rhythm of their potentials.
Moreover, the unspoken form of accountability that stems from the assurance that you’re constantly expecting to hear from me is more than a thrill. I even saw that you invited your friends, thank you!
You haven’t just helped increase us in size (or number). Beyond that, you’ve helped increase the amount of transformation and impact we can have on letter at a time; And I do not take that for granted.
However, before we kiss the year goodbye, I’d like to remind you that in 2025, do not make the mistake of joining the multitude to chant the “your network is your net worth” maxim without giving it a second thought.
Think about this, there are people who are in the circles of highly connected people, yet their life isn’t a by—product of the connection they have these people. Understand that the intersection of any network is first amplified and coloured by people’s net worth. In essence, the value of any network is first amplified and colored by the net worth of its members.
This is why you see people of a particular pedigree attract people of their kind alone. This is the value of net worth.
In clear terms, your net worth is hidden in the value you possess.
Instead of hustling for people this coming year, how about working on increasing your value? How about working on your skills and making it valuable by using it to solve a problem?
This coming year, if you want to stand out and be recognized as an outlier, do not prioritize network without prioritizing your net worth.
Besides, if you’re reading this and the only meaning you can associate with net worth is financial, you have a lot of introspection to do, because your net worth isn’t just about money; it’s also, rooted in the skills, wisdom, and value you possess and bring to the table.
See ya next year!
